England

In England the sisters are currently based at four locations where we continue the work Mother Mary began in 1954. In Brighton St Mary’s House is still a care home and there are some retirement flats nearby plus the Generalate and the headquarters of the Charity. At Heathfield we have our flourishing Holy Cross Care Village comprising of a 60 bed care home, 60 apartments, a chapel which is shared with the local Parish and a new convent. At Bury St Edmunds there is another care home, Montana, and Oakampton House which offers retirement accommodation. More Hall is a small care home just outside Stroud in Gloucester.

In the past we have had care homes in Bognor, Hassocks and Lynton and accommodation for the retired in many places including Bexhill, Burwash, Crowborough, Eythorne and Storrington but in recent years we have sold most of these in order to concentrate on those that were fit for the future and located near one of the care homes.

Our sisters work alongside our lay staff to provide excellent care and we are grateful for the support of many generous volunteers and friends and with their help hope to continue the work of Grace and Compassion for many years to come.
