Sr Shoba Chandrasekaran 1960 - 2025

Sr Shoba Chandrasekaran died in our hospital at Tiruvannamalai, India on Thursday 6th February 2025.

She entered the community in India in 1981 and came to England in 1982 to start her Novitiate. She made her First Profession in 1985 at Holy Cross Priory and her Final Profession in 1990 at Tiruvannamalai.

Her funeral took place at Tiruvannamalai on 7th February 2025. May she rest in peace.

On Saturday 15th April 2023 we celebrated the joyful occasion of the Final Profession of Srs Roselyne, Lilian, Grace, Vianney and Eliza in the grounds of the Parish Church next to the Convent at Mundika in Kenya. Congratulations Sisters!

Sr Catherine Griffin, 1931 - 2022

Sister Catherine Griffin died peacefully in the West Suffolk Hospital, aged 91, on Thursday 25th August 2022. Born in Ireland, she came to work in England and entered Community in 1966 at Holy Cross Priory. She worked in most of our houses and abroad and in 2019 she celebrated her Golden Jubilee. Sr Catherine was living at Montana, Bury St. Edmunds at the time of her death and will be buried at Holy Cross Priory at the end of September. May she rest in peace.

General Chapter - June 2022

A General Chapter was held at the Kairos Centre at Roehampton in June 2022. Although some sisters did not arrive due to visa problems the Chapter went ahead and on 23rd June, Sr Kathy Yeeles was re-elected as Prioress General for a 6 year term, together with the General Councillors, Sr Carmel Murtagh, Sr Metilda George, Sr Thaya Moses and Sr Beatrice Odinyu. Sr Gabrielle Tinsley, 1921 – 2022

Sister Gabrielle Tinsley died peacefully at Holy Cross Care Home, aged 100 years, on Monday 30th May 2022. She entered the community in 1972 and worked at our houses in England, India and East Africa. She was the Superior of the first foundation at Mundika in Kenya for many years. Her funeral took place at Holy Cross Priory, Heathfield on 30th June 2022. May she rest in peace.

Sister Lydia Savarimuthu, 1957-2021

Sister Lydia Savarimuthu died in India on 4th July 2021, aged 63 years, having recently recovered from a bout of Covid-19. 

She entered the community in India in 1982 and did most of her religious formation in England before returning to India where she made her Final Profession in 1992.

She remained in India until the time of her death and at that time she was Superior at St Henry’s Home for the Elderly in Salem.

 May she rest in peace.
